“…arguably one of the most startling new concepts in anchor design in decades…  they set faster than more conventional anchors and exhibit superior holding capacity… began to set as soon as it hit bottom, and in a matter of minutes had buried itself all the way up to its rode.”

... Ira Black, Editor and Publisher        Nor'easter Magazine

anchors testimonials

" ...highly innovative... this anchor provides an ingenious twist to the design on the plough anchor, to provide exceptional holding power."  ... "From what we have seen from the tests performed with this anchor it would seem that John Willis has come up with yet another multi-million-dollar idea."   ...The Yacht Report

“Simple, dummy-proof... set this hook in the sand, muck, grass or gravel and you're not going anywhere."... BoatingLife

Hi,

I wanted to let you know I’ve used your anchor the Captain’s Choice for about a month now. I fish out of South Florida and anchor over a lot of different structures, some in 250 feet of water with lots of current and wind. This anchor has worked every time with terrific holding power. Holds every time and does not slide at all. I’ve been anchoring boats for over 20 years and this anchor, bar none, has been the best.  A GREAT product.

Tight Lines,

"Eel-grass is where the rubber meets the road for anchors. The HydroBubble sets quicker and holds better in grass than any lightweight anchor I've used during my quarter century of professional boating."

“If you spend any time trying to anchor your boat, you know it can be a drag. I mean really a drag, because often an anchor doesn’t set, and it drags along the bottom until it decides to hold. Now someone has addressed that problem.”...Powerboat

On Tuesday October 29, 2002 B & W Marine Construction of Harwood, Maryland was transporting one of our 50,000 lb. displacement barges from the northern Chesapeake Bay to a job site on the lower bay. With increased northeast winds, and weather conditions deteriorating we anchored the barge at the mouth of the Magothy River, using other ground tackle in conjunction with the Anchor Concepts 600WP to prevent the barge from being stranded on a lee shore. The other ground tackle* failed to hold in the mud/sand bottom. The Anchor Concepts 600WP held fast for two days in continual northeast winds of 15 to 25 knots.

Sincerely,
Steve Batze and Phil Stratton

*It is our understanding that the two other anchors weighed approximately 80 pounds each.

“…the buoyancy “bubble” flips the anchor into the perfect upright position and it’s ready to set. Plus, the anchor can be disassembled in mere seconds for stowage."... Family & Performance Boating

Smart Anchors    "... provides faster and easier boat positioning, with increased safety for you and your passengers....    The quick setting feature ensures faster, safer and more precise anchorage... The anchor is made of highest quality materials..."

"This three-piece anchor is designed to be foolproof. The two metal parts are not welded so weld-joint cracking, as with many anchors, is not a problem.   ...the HydroBubble anchor boasts a uniquely engineered mechanical lock that cannot release except for dismantling. This unique joint allows the shank to wag during boat movement caused by wave action that would otherwise disturb a standard plow. The HydroBubble though remains secure."

                   ... Southern Boating

“If you’ve ever watched from under water while an anchor descends, you know that there’s no telling how it will land. Because it doesn’t always hit the sea bed in a perfect position to dig right in, an anchor may have to be pulled along the bottom for many feet before it finally holds securely – and your boat may not end up in the spot where you had intended to anchor. Anchor Concepts claims to have solved this problem with its new HydroBubble plow-style anchor … The result is a faster-setting anchor.”
                ...
Motor Boating Magazine

"We were initially a little skeptical about the concept of the HydroBubble Anchor. After all, received wisdom is to add weight for holding power, not to reduce it by adding buoyancy." … “It stuck, hard, and we bounced the night away at the end of the rode. This wasn’t a comprehensive test, but we do know the HydroBubble sets quickly and stays set in North Carolina where the chart notes the bottom as 'stk'."
                …Cruising World

“The last thing boaters want is anchor trouble, but sometimes the dang things just don’t land on the bottom right and the flukes won’t bite. This new three piece HydroBubble anchor is designed to be foolproof, hold fast and release easily. A patented buoyancy tank orients the anchor to an upright position every time it’s immersed.”... Chesapeake Bay Magazine

"When the anchor is let go, it always lands upright and continually remains so owing to its bubble flotation device. The anchor lands quickly on the sea bed and does not need to be dragged as part of the setting process. It is lightweight and easy to handle..."    ...The Yacht Report

“The anchor set as soon as it hit the bottom because it landed plow blade down every time. The sink rate was slightly slower than my standard Danforth but the set was quicker on all attempts. According to my GPS there was no drag during a two-hour stay.”

“Because of the design the anchor lands in the correct position and is ready and compelled to set the moment any pull is made on the rode.”

“Innovative anchor sets with ease.” …“Want an anchor that rests properly on the bottom?  A HydroBubble anchor could be the right call.”                  …Sea Magazine

“Anchor Concepts came up with this idea and it looks like they have come up with a good one.”  “Talk about a great stern anchor, this thing is perfect. It bites fast with short scope, digs in, and keeps on digging in until it buries itself."
               … Latitudes & Attitudes

“There’s always a bit of hope and prayer when you drop your anchor in anything less than the most favorable conditions….But sometimes, no mater how hard you’ve hoped and prayed, you end up spending what was to be a restful watch picking up the anchor, then jogging upwind to reset it: once, twice, maybe even a dozen times. Thankfully, now there’s a new design out that might take the anxiety out of anchoring. The WorkBoat Pro from Anchor Concepts is built with a different approach than other anchors…"  …National Fisherman

“ … Willis has built a better mousetrap.”
…The Raleigh News and Observer

"The first time I used my new anchor, it stuck the first time and held. The next time we tied up to three other boats and I just dropped the anchor over the bow and it held ALL the boats ALL day! My only problem is my anchor locker on the boat is too small, so I have to disassemble the HydroBubble each time."

 Sincerely,
 John G.  (Love it!)

"Easing anchor anxiety"   "The innovative WorkBoat Pro rests upright to keep you tied down." ... National Fisherman

“Anchor Concepts aims to make things a bit easier with its Hydrobubble anchor… an anchor that is light but still should give your boat a foothold when you want it. The secret to the anchor’s quick set is the PVC buoyancy tank…  It keeps the center of gravity even, allowing the anchor to land straight and set as soon as tension is applied by the rode.”                 ... Power & Motoryacht

"... he (Willis) found that the typical lightweight anchor for small boats didn't always dig in quickly, if at all. His talks with other boaters confirmed that many were having the same problem."

"He believes the biggest problem is an anchor's ability to stay upright, allowing the flukes to meet the bottom at the correct angle to grab quickly. The solution was as simple as it was ingenious...    Like a cat, every time the anchor is dropped, it lands right-side up."

“… Six boats rafted for the July Fourth festivities in Annapolis Harbor and were held true by two (count 'em, 2) Anchor Concepts products. Good work! Also, nine boats were rafted… in Baltimore Harbor in June. The lunch stop and overnight stay were in the choppy Eastern Shore area of Rock Hall. From our vantage-point, the anchor held a collection of boats far greater than the specs on the box. Kudos!"
... WBIS “Boater’s Talk-Radio” host Steve Smith, Annapolis MD

I have been very pleased with my new Hydro Bubble anchor. It holds my 29 ft Wellcraft cruiser very well even in a brisk wind. I really like the appearance of the anchor and the best part for me is the easy retrieval when I am ready to get underway again.

“Looking for a low-cost anchor that delivers good performance? How about a model that’s two anchors in one?  Then check out the SportBubble... You can also assemble the plow in an inverted position to make it work as a beach anchor or spike.”

“…bit as soon as the rode came tight. And it held. The built-in float forced it to land upright allowing its plowshare fluke to dig right in- a thing the 13-lb Danforth that serves as my working hook usually needs several attempts to accomplish in grass.”... BOATING MAGAZINE

“ I used my new HydroBubble anchor this last weekend at Lake Mojave. It lived up to the reports. It stayed put and kept the boat in place during the three days there. I would recommend it to others.” ... Dan D.

Last fall a friend and I was fishing in the sound outside Swansboro, NC in my nineteen-foot center console boat. We were not catching very much so we decided to move on out toward Bogue inlet. I saw a few boats stopped along the channel leading out to the inlet so I stopped to see if anything would bite. The current was really fast and I noticed that the other boats were either pulled up on a sand bar or was tied off to the shore. Usually I would have done the same but I had recently gotten one of your new anchors so we decided to put it to the test. I dropped it in about ten feet of water and when it hit bottom you could tell that it was very hard, but the anchor slid only a couple of feet and then held fast.

After a while we moved on out into the inlet right off a sand bar about twenty feet. The water was about twenty-five feet deep, and the current was even stronger than before. I dropped the anchor and as soon as it hit bottom it held. I had to let out some extra rope to get to the spot I wanted because we had not drifted far enough before the anchor set.

The amusing thing was that we started catching some nice fish, which attracted other boats to come join us. Their problem was that they would come by and drop anchor, then come floating back by. Some were able to finally get their anchors to set after several tries, while others gave up.

I guess what I am trying to say is that it really seems great to be able to have an anchor that holds quickly and where you want it to.

Thanks again,

Barry Wilson
Salter Path, NC
